Network of Minority Health Research Investigators (NMRI) Annual Workshop Travel Grant
The Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Accessibility (DEIA) Committee is proud to announce a new NMRI Annual Workshop Travel Grant program to enable three recipients belonging to historically marginalized and underrepresented minority (URM) backgrounds to attend the Network of Minority Health Research Investigators (NMRI) Annual Workshop meeting at NIH, April 7 – 9, 2025 in Bethesda, Maryland. The travel grant of $1,500 for each recipient would support airfare, ground transportation, lodging (2 nights), meals, incidentals and poster printing. There is no registration fee for the NMRI workshop.
Recipient Eligibility:
- Be a United States citizen or permanent resident of the United States
- Must be an ASBMR member at the time of application and become a NMRI member
- Must hold an MD, PhD, or equivalent degree in a field related to bone mineral and musculoskeletal science, or be currently enrolled in doctoral-level training
- Underrepresented Minority by NIH Standards or with experience promoting DEIA
- Must plan to attend and submit an abstract for the NMRI Workshop
- May not have received this award more than once
- May not receive additional, concurrent travel awards from ASBMR or ASN (American Society of Nephrology) to attend the NMRI Annual Workshop.

- Potential impact that this award would have on the recipient’s future in bone research
- Potential impact that this recipient could have on ASBMR
- Letter of Support from Institution (Department Chair or Research Advisor)
- Necessity of the NMRI travel award for the recipient
- Potential impact the travel award would have on the recipient
- Commitment to additional financial support, if necessary
- Financial need
